THE IABSE COLLOQUIUM ON CONCRETE MODEL CODE FOR ASIA
organized by the Thailand Group of IABSE
17-18 March 1999, Phuket, Thailand

Prof Ekasit Limsuwan, Vice Chairman of the International Committee on Concrete Model Code (ICCMC) at that time spearheaded the organization of this Colloquium with the support from the Thailand Group of IABSE, the Engineering Institute of Thailand (EIT) and the Japan Concrete Institute (JCI).
The aim was to share information and experiences gathered by participants relating to their own national building codes, summarize the problems from each country and explore methods for the effective implementation of the Asian Concrete Model Code (2nd Draft)  published in March 1999.
PROGRAM

The Colloquium was held from Wednesday 17 to Thursday 18 March, followed by a meeting of ICCMC on Friday 19 March at the Phuket Arcadia Hotel, located about 1 hour away from the Phuket International Airport.

At the Opening session, the Vice Governor of Phuket gave a welcome speech, followed by speeches from

OPEN MEETING

An open meeting of the ICCMC was held on the second day.  Prior to the meeting a questionnaire on the Draft Code was distributed to all participants.
